Bed bugs are an insect that can easily get out of hand and be difficult to get rid of when you do have a problem with them. Bed bugs are very small, although they can be seen fairly easily with the naked eye. They are reddish-brown in color and have flat, oval bodies. These pests are about the size of an apple seed and can be found just about anywhere in your home. They are commonly found on your mattress, or on other upholstered furniture. They can also be found on hard surfaces around your home, such as on headboards, tables, and even on your walls. To help you determine if you have this pest problem, read on for some of the early signs of an issue to watch out for.

Bites On Your Skin

Bed bug bites are usually in a line or a pattern. The bed bugs feast on human blood, although they can also feed off of animals as well. Bed bugs leave welts, or what looks like a red rash or a blister on the skin. The rash will itch and can become inflamed in the area if you scratch it too much. Bed bug bites are usually on the part of the body that is pressed into the mattress where you sleep, or even on areas of the skin that touch other upholstered furniture as well. If you have unexplained bites on the skin, it could be from bed bugs.

Blood Smears

Blood smears can be found on your sheets or pillowcases, or on the mattress itself. Blood smears may be very tiny and appear to be just tiny smudges on your sheets. If you have found small blood smears on your pillow, mattress, sheets, or blankets, look further for other signs of bed bugs in your bed.

Living Bugs

You may see actual living bed bugs in your bed as well. Inspect your mattress on the seam and along the creases of the mattress for living bed bugs if you've seen other signs. You should also look around the mattress tag or near where the box spring sits on the frame for signs of living pests. If you see live pests, you need to start doing some quick pest control before it gets out of hand.

If you have seen the early signs of bed bugs, you need to begin the process of exterminating these pests right away. You can have an infestation on your hands in no time at all with these pests. Hire a professional bed bug control company for help with this issue.
